The National Health Normative Standards Framework for Interoperability in eHealth (HNSF), developed by researchers from MEKE and NMMU for the National Department of Health, has been published in the Government Gazette of 23 April 2013. The HNSF is now 'soft national legislation' and requires that any ehealth system used and developed in South Africa adhere to the prescribed set of standards.
